In the present text I am going to analyze scenes from 1:47:42 to the end of the episode 39 of the romantic comedy “Erkenci Kus” (“Early Bird” in English).

The scene starts with the image of Sanem in an office. The setting is a very important point of the characterisation, indeed colours and sounds give to the intelligent watcher more information about the characters and the message of the story.

During the meeting between Sanem, Can and the owner of a publishing house, Sanem gives lots of quizzical looks to Can. Can is very stubborn and he doesn't want Sanem to publish her notebook with Yigit because he is very possesive, jealous and patronising. On the other hand Sanem is very angry, the director wants the audience to understand this thanks to Sanem's body language. She feels disgraced by Can, inept and humiliated. The director uses colours and he expolits a contrast with colours. For example the dark night is in contrast with hot colours inside the Sanem's room. Also the soundtrack is important to set the atmosphere.

The main point of the scene is the notebook. The director exploits the notebook like a symbol of Can and Sanem's love, feelings and emotions. The real message of it is about the future of Can and Sanem. During the quarrel between Can and Yigit the intelligent watcher is able to understand Can's personality. He is a very istintive person. The director wants to show Can's strength: he goes back to the agency and in the same way he doesn't read the notebook of Sanem. There are also positive elements about Can, indeed he wants to apologize to Yigit for his istintive reaction.

I suppose the director wants the audience to not like the character of Yigit because during the story you can watch Yigit and Can's mother make a plan to make Can and Sanem to leave each other.
