INDIVIDUAL ANALYSIS

In the present text I'm going to discuss the characterization of the protagonist as presented in the 39th episode of the romantic comedy “ Erkenci Kus” (Early bird in English ).

The main point of the episode is the book of Sanem and the quarrel between Can and Yigit.

In the first scene Can present to Sanem one of his dear journalist friend, who proposes to publish her book, but Sanem is disagree and offended because she doesn't want be recommended by Can.

You can understand this because she has got a terrible body language and she is very instinctive, she moves twice without thinking, but in a second moment she gets angry.

She has already agreed with the publishing house and Yigit believes in her from day one.

In the other hand Can doesn't want Sanem publish the book with Yigit because he's very jealous, possessive and patronize.

In this episode the director wants to focus the attention on the notebook which is the metaphoric symbol of Can and Sanem's story and their feelings.

In a second moment the director used the method of the colours' contrast, for example the contrast between the night and hot colours in Sanem's room.

In a second part there is the quarrel between Can and Yigit, who is an intermediary between the love story of the two protagonists. He burns the Sanem's book, blaming can, who pushes him.

He is taken to the hospital, and immediately goes over to the victim's side; meanwhile Sanem has witnessed the whole scene.

From this scene you can understand Can is really instinctive, rude, proprietor, hard and detrimental, he also worry because he understand Sanem believes he burned her notebook, so she feels betrayed.
