- attention focused on Marianne’s house because which is never really clean because Lorraine does not work at Marianne’s anymore
- Marianne is nostalgic because she misses both Lorraine and Connell, but in particular she focuses the attention on Lorraine because she is the point of union between Marianne and Connell and she misses also him
- conscious is at the center of investigation since Marianne is looking at the past
- Connell is like a ghost in Marianne’s head
- Joanna and Evelyn’s references are used to underline that in Marianne’s head there is the tendency to go back to the past
