TITLE “A WORD IS DEAD” - What do you espect the text wull be about? Considering the title I expert the poem to be about communication bacause there is the word “word”. I expect the poem may be about a comunication is dead. I think the poem will be about a form of communication that is no longer true. I expert the poem will be about a word that never use again. Once have read the title the reader is courious to find aout / to discover why the word is dead.
LAY – OUT AND TEXT STRUCTURE STRUTTURA DEL TESTO Considering the LAY-OUT the reader realizes (si rende conto) / can see the text is organise into/ is arranged into organised into two stanzas of three lines each. The poem consists of six lines organized into two tercets, therefore (perciò) he would like to understand / lind out the reason vity the poet / poetes has arranged the message into two stanzas and last but not least the function of each stanzas.
A Word Is Dead ( i titoli si scrivono con le iniziali maiuscole) A word is dead When it is said Some say
I say it just Begins to live That day
ANALISI DENOTATIVA (esprime di che cosa parla la poesia) The poem espresse two different points of view about the life of a word: some people think that whenever you say a word it dies,the poetes belives thet when someone says a word it start to live. The denotative analysis makes the reader understands thet the function of the first stanza is to report the common ideas about the life of a word; the function of the second tercets is to report the poetes opinion. It follows that/ As a result / as a consequence the intelligent reader understand that the by out has been conceived (concepito) to opposit / contrastino ideas about the nature of words.
CONNOTATIVE ANALYSIS
- The poem his got the following rhyms scheme: AAB CDB - The first and second lines are run on lines - The function of the comma is sto create a suspence - Sintax is turned upside down in the two tercets: the first tercet makes of a run-on-line in the first two lines, in the second tercet what takes place is exactly the opposite. |
