She is bored because:

1. she is not interested in football

2. she wants to be at the centre of Connell’s attention

Marianne doesn’t want to be a servant

Marianne’s mistake → she accepted to become the hidden lover

Why she accepted a hidden relationship? Because she unconsciously got used not to be respected and appreciated for what she is worth.

People in relationship are partners
