1. Prepare some notes on extreme sports following the guidelines below and use your notes to rehearse your speech. Work with a partner or record your voice to get feedback on your performance.

Several extreme sports are practiced in my area. Both those from land and water are practiced, but those in greater quantities are those of water: Kitesurf, Canyoning excursions, Bungee Jumping from the Isonzo bridges and Rafting. A friend of mine Gianni has been rafting for six years. Gianni chose this sport because his father practiced it. He enjoys it a lot because facing the rapids causes him strong emotions. But there was also a dangerous situation: he fell of the dinghy and was about to drown if his dad hadn’t been there to catch him he would have drowned. Gianni asked me many times to go with him: I always said yes, but my parents didn’t leave me. What pratical activity? Would you like to try rafting?

2. Read the text and choose the correct word(s) for each space.

If I wanted to have a good holiday 1 I’D go to Italy. You can find everything YOU want if you go there. If you wanted, you 3 WOULD go to the seaside or take a sightseeing tour. But if I 4 WERE you, I would go to the mountains. If you go the Alps, for example, you 5 WILL do both downhill skiing and cross-country skiing in winter. There are miles of wonderful runs and trails! If you go in the summer, you can go hiking or climbing. If you’d come with me last summer, you 6 COULD HAVE CLIMBED to the top of Mount Rosa. You really 7 SHOULD HAVE BEEN there! It was awesome! All the lower peaks beneath us looked like rocks in a blue sea. And then the changing colours at sunset! We slept in the highest hut. Accommodation was  basic, of course, but the atmosphere was so warm and friendly that I 8 COULD HAVE STAYED there much longer if I 9 HAVE HAD enough time off work. How about the Apennines? If I 10 WOULD START talking about the resorts there, I would never finish! I guess you don’t know that you can learn to ski not far Rome, on the slopes of Gran Sasso. And 11 WOULD you believe me if I told that you can ski in the South of Italy? The Sila Massif in Calabria offers 2 downhill runs and 35 km of cross-country trails. So I think it’s a good idea if you 12 BOOKING your holiday now, then you can see for yourself.

3. Read the text below and think of the world which best fits each space. Use only  one in each space.

I’m so glad that I did that computer course 1   IN   September . You see, the company was  2   MADE  for someone who knew most types of office software . If I hadn’t  3   HAVE  good computer skills, I WOULDN’T have been right for the positive I’ve got now .  When I started the course, I wasn’t sure I would BE able to complete it . I had three 90-minute lessons a week, which is quite a lot when you’re working too, and the course lasted four months . On top of that, the lessons, which  LASTED from 7 to 8.30 pm, weren’t  always in the same school so 7    IF  I forgot to write the place on my diary, I   WOULD easily end up to the wrong school and miss the lesson ! Luckily, the teacher was very good. If he  HAD  been, I would 10  HAVE probably given up after a while. He was very clear and patient. He taught us the most updated versions of the most widely-used software and gave us really challenging tasks, which 11   ARE  to be completed in groups. That way, I also made new friends during the course.
