Italy is a Democratic Repubblic grounded on Labour since 1948, after 20 years of fascist domination and monarchy. After wwii,in 1946 a referendum declared that since that year Italy wil be a democratic repubblic. The Italian Constitution was approved in 1947 and came into being in 1948.
The countryis organized as a centralyzed state with 21 regions (five of these have special statues), Provincies and municipates.
The head of the state is The President of the repubblic, who is elected by the parliment and will have this role for seven years.
The legislative is organized into two chambers: the senato and the camera, with any substantial differences in competence between them.
The president of the repubblic is a senator by right for life, and he or she can elect five persons senators for life. Them has have a special achivement in social, scientificall, artistic or literary field.
Senato and camera are elected every 5 years.
The governament of the state is organized in the president of the repubblic and the council of ministers, that is headed by the president of the council of ministers.
The governament has to have the confidence of all two.
All laws must be approvated by both chambers.
The Judiciary is a professional and piramidal body, judges are declared properlyafter difficult exams.

Constitution contains many principles about work and workers. Also it protects employers and employees 
There are multiple contracts. Usually are indefinite, but tey chan also be fixed term, apprendiships, part-time, solidary contracts,worktrainings,domestic work ecc.
Suspansion of contract is permitted by the law.
Worker can't be dismissed because of his political opinion, his provenience, his sex and other discriminations.Also can not be dismissed because of pregnancy. In case of ungiustificate dismissions, workers can the employer has to pay the damage of all employees.
Constitution tell that a worker can not work more than 8 hours per day and 48 hours per week. Extra work is considered and extra paid.
There are Paid leaves,a workercan ask one to stay at home from work for personal problematics, illness, medical conditions and pregnancy. Also during Holydays workers are normally paid, even if they are not at work.
There is a special paid leave for pregnant women who can stay home 2 months before and 3 after the childbirth. Many of this permissions are now extended also to the fathers.
There are sick leaves and educational leaves. The minimun age to work in italy is 15 years of age and also at this age workes has all rights. Also in Constitution there is the principle of equality to all workers, it is ilegal to discriminate someone on work.
Cassa integrazione protects workers' paid when is a difficult moment for the entire enterpise, due to special events.
In the end workers can organize unions and reunions
