TO BE, OR NOT TO BE TEXTUAL ANALYSIS The name of this play underline that Hamblet is reflecting about to be or not to be. ''To be'' and ''not to be'' are two infinitive verbs tenses, so it means that they aren't addressed to a specific person, but they are in general. These two verbs could be replaced with the verb ''to exist'' and ''not to exist'', but ''to be'' and '' not to be'' give a wider meaning. The meaning of this reflection is if has sense to continue living or if suicide is better. The event that has provocated this intense reflection in Hamlet is the apparition of his father's ghost that told him that his brother's Claudius committed his murder. The ghost, also, asked him to revenge his death, taking revenged with Claudius. Hamlet makes a list of the pros and cons of living on. Beacuse during life there are many difficulties and the death puts an end to the problems of body, but it is not know what is after death, so dying could be worse. He is undecided to commet suicide or not. He makes a reflection about the sense of death, he compares it to sleep, but nobody knows what exatly happened after life's ending. So he doesn't know if has sense to continue living or not.
