I WISH YOU PEACE Just considering the title of the song “I wish you peace” that is produced by Eagles, an america group, the speaking voice wishes peace to someone. The structure of the song is organized into two stanzas. In the first stanza, the speaking voice is the first singular person pronoun "I" and the pronoun “you” may refer to somebody who we don’t know. “you” can be referred to a young lady, but also to all the world. I can understand this because if I want to tell something to a person I write her or him a letter. He wishes peace to someone when the cold winds blow, wormed by the fire's glow. Here peace means as a solution to bed time. So, here doesn’t mean that there is a war, but there is probably an inner war because the speaking voice refers to a bad situation. In the first two lines we have two opposing ideas: the cold and the worm. In Fact from the semantic point of view the idea of cold is called to mind by the words cold winds, while the idea of warm is called to mind by the words “wormed", "fire" and "blow". The difficult situations are: The cold winds blow, the lonely time, when you ache inside. The solutions that are clearly expressed in the first stanza are peace, comfort, hope and shelter. In the second two lines the speaking voice wishes people comfort when they feel alone. Where "Lonely" doesn’t mean a physical situation, but a mental one because you can feel lonely also when you are with other person. Here, in this stanza, peace for the singer is not opposed to war but to loneliness and the difficulties of life in general. In the second stanza the speaking voice is wishing hope when times are bad, when someone is going through to the dark. Again he uses the images of natural events like storms, winds, the dark that could represent the inner war. There is a repetition presented in this song. We find “I wish you” is repeated twelve times to emphasize his message. In my opinion this song is the best wish from one person to another to live a better life. Indeed in every bad situation he wishes a possible solution. For example fire’s grow when cold winds blow, arms old you when you are lonely, hope when things are bad.
