MACBETH

Macbeth:
- he is ambitious as he wants to become the most powerful Thane of Cawdor and he makes this title his'
- a character that changes throughout the play
- brave warrior and a leader at the start but at the end he falls victim to the Witches' prediction
- he's full of doubts as he keeps changing his mind about whether to murder Duncan or not and he can easily get persuaded
- he continues to behave badly just to hold onto his power
- he has got a guilty conscience
Lady Macbeth:
- she is even more ambitious than her husband and she always has a plan in her mind as soon as an opportunity to gain power presents itself
- she is determined to kill Duncan in order to become the Queen and does everything that requires to keep her husband on the right track
- at the end she gets overwhelmed by the feeling of guilt and dies
Banquo:
- general in King Duncan's army and Macbeth's best friend
- he's the opposite of Macbeth as he's kind and caring and doesn't resort to murder to get what he wants
- he is aware that the Witches' predictions may be tricking Macbeth into evil actions and is the first to suspect Macbeth of murder
Macduff:
- he is the Thane of Fife and Macbeth's deadly enemy
- he is loyal to his kind and to his country
- he is revengeful and he wants to rid his country of the tyrant Macbeth and vows to help Malcolm achieve this
The Witches:
- they are often referred to as "The Weird Sisters"
- they clearly are supernatular characters
- when they make their predictions, they only say what will happen and not how it will happen
