Macbeth is the protagonist of the story, he is a really brave warrior, and one of his biggest goal is to become someone important. Indeed when he meets the witches and they tell him that he will be promoted he's greed of power increase. Trough the whole story the intelligent reader can't unsee the change of character of the protagonist, from hero to coward. 

Lady Macbeth is the wife of Machbeth, she is ruthless and manipulative, since she convince Macbeth to kill the King. As long as Macbeth she is a very weak character, because she kills herself from the guilt;

Banquo is Macbeth's best friend they ahave really similar personalities but Banquo is more cautions and would never kill someone to achieve is goals; Banquo thinks that the whiches might trick his besfriend, but Macbeth doesn't believe it. He gets kill by his bestfriend while protacting his son, then he will haunt Macbeth 'till he's death. 

Macduff is Macbeth's deadly enemy he discovers the king's corpse, he also rised an army againts Macbeth. When he comes to know that his wife and children are dead he became a unstopable drivo by the revenge
