- Articolo 1 - 

L'Italia è una Repubblica democratica, fondata sul lavoro.

La sovranità appartiene al popolo, che la esercita nelle forme e nei limiti della Costituzione.

Punti fondamentali articolo 1:  

-) Il lavoro è il mezzo con cui la gran parte delle persone si guadagna da vivere e quindi ha una  funzione strumentale 

-) Definisce la persona (sono un..) 

-) Funzione economica e sociale, Utilitaria  

-) Diventa il modo di esprimersi di una persona 

-) Modo per realizzarsi, esprimersi, collegato al fatto di libertà (regolata dalla costituzione) e quindi  di repubblica democratica. 

Commento 

Il primo articolo affronta due tematiche principali: Il Lavoro e la Sovranità. 

Il lavoro è fondamentale in quanto è il mezzo con cui le persone si guadagnano da vivere e quindi  ha una funzione strumentale economica e sociale, in quanto definisce il ruolo della persona nella  comunità, poiché costituisce uno dei modi di esprimersi di una persona. Lo Stato dunque  garantisce il lavoro come diritto e libertà. 

Il tema del lavoro si collega a quello della sovranità, in quanto come citato in questo articolo la  sovranità appartiene al popolo, in quanto lo Stato italiano è una Repubblica democratica. Di fatti  quest ultimo è al contempo sia produttore che consumatore: forma e sostenta lo stato, per cui ha il diritto di gestire il potere, sempre però “nelle forme e nei limiti della costituzione”.

Sovereignty belongs to the people, who exercise it in the forms and within the limits of the Constitution. 

- Fundamental points - 

-) Work is the instrument by which most people earn a living and therefore has an instrumental function. 

-) Work defines the person (I am a.. ). 

-) Work has an utilitarian function (economic, social,..) 

-) Work becomes a person’s mode of expression. 

-) Work is the way of realising, expressing oneself, linked to the fact of freedom (regulated by the constitution) and therefore of democratic republic.

- Commentary -

The first article deals with two main themes: Labour and Sovereignty.

Work is fundamental because it is the means by which people earn a living, so it has an instrumental, economic and social function: it defines the role of the person in the community being one of a person’s modes of expression. The state therefore guarantees work as a right and freedom.

The subject of work is linked to that of sovereignty, since, as mentioned in the article, sovereignty belongs to the people. In fact the latter is both producer and consumer: form and support the state, so it has the right to manage power, even "in the forms and within the limits of the constitution".
