I hope you are well. Last week I went to the cinema with my sister and we watched the film “12 Years a Slave”.

Directed by Steve McQueen and starred by Chiwetel Ejiofor as Solomon Northup, Micheal Fassbender as cotton plantation owner and Brad Pitt as abolitionist, this historical drama awarded 3 Oscars: Best Motion Picture of the Year, best Writing and Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

Set in pre-Civil War United States, this film is based on the true story of Solomon Northup, a free black man from new York who is sold into slavery. He fights to stay alive and to preserve his dignity but when he meets by chance a Canadian abolitionist, his life changes.

“12 Years a Slave” holds your attention from beginning to end and I think it is unforgettable. Moreover it received widespread critical acclaim and was proved to be a box office success. You can’t miss it!
