Shen Jin is having indigestion after being outwitted by General Chu and has to finish all the food during the dinner with the court artist. He then takes pity on her and leads her out for a walk to help with her indigestion.

Shen Jin’s mother sends her a letter and an embroidery pattern. General Chu notices that the pattern resembles the one in the secret chamber. He brings her there. It is beneath a tomb in the forest. Shen Jin manages to pick the lock for them to enter the next room. There are booby traps and General Chu protects her from flying arrows with one grazing his back. They then come across a coffin. General Chu places Shen Jin’s pendant on a groove and it opens up. He retrieves a seal from the coffin. 

Back home, Shen Jin helps him to tend to his wound. She is moved by all the scars on his body. She tells him that she understands why he has to be known as a demonic general. That is because he needs to scare off enemies and protect the country. Shen Jin finds that the real General Chu is very different from the one that she has heard. She admits that she has fallen for him. He also apologizes for suspecting her to be a spy. She kisses him. She runs off when there is a knock on the door. Shen Jin is happy and planning to consummate their marriage that night. She is waiting for him but General Chu is thinking of his late parents who died during an attack when he was a kid. He wants to investigate the truth and also writes a divorce letter for Shen Jin.
