Watch the video and after watching write an argumentative text to explain the following: How does the movie you have just watched connect to Medieval Romance?

The movie consists in a series of images or short videos taken by different films or animated programs. The images and the film pieces are juxtaposed in a precise order, with the intention to create a story, a romance story.

The viewer suddenly recognizes the romantic traits of medieval literature, from the start where some images linked to far lands or fascinating castles are shown. To quote an example, one of the first images is taken from Adventure Time, a lovable animated series. The present imagine represents a castle built with cakes, cream, and chocolate: a fantastic castle. Indeed, in romance literature, wonderful and fanciful places are frequently quoted to give the idea of non-localization and magic atmosphere.

The movie continues with short traits of films, such as the famous spaghetti’s sharing from Lady and the Tramp. This type of cinematographic choices are entirely linked to perfect and fabulous love. To mention another instance, two pieces from Titanic are also inserted in the movie. In particular, the famed wings’ position which Jack teaches to Rose, or the dramatic scene of Jack’s death, which contributes to convey a tragic idea, too.

This kind of love images or videos are juxtaposed to fight moments. One of Bruce Lee’s fight scenes is used, for example. Difficult quests and fight are indeed frequent in romance’s works: usually knights had to complete missions or adventures, they met marvellous and terrific creatures to fight. They must go on adventure because of their ladies they have to save.

After the adventure videos, the narrator focuses again on love stories as happens in romance literature. This choice alludes to the rencounter between the knight and his lady. Actually, sometimes love ends with deaths as it is in the previously quoted scene that consists in Jack’s death.
