ELISABETH I Elizabeth I, daughter of Henry VIII and Anna Bolena, was a great queen who brought England to be a great power. First of all he gave freedom of worship by also re-establishing the Anglican church. He was concerned with strengthening the fleet and maritime trade, making England a great maritime power. He never married so that power remained in his hands and no one would take it away from him. The only time the queen proved more "ruthless" was when her cousin, Maria Stuard, locked her up in a tower and then killed her after 19 years. This is because he could not create an internal revolt to bring the kingdom back to being Catholic. |
