The characters do not invite Alice to join them

4. Do they show good manners? Give examples from the text

No, they don’t. You can see that when they offer her wine, but there isn’t any, or when they give her personal remarks (Alice’s hair wants cutting…)

5. What does the Hatter ask Alice?

The Hatter asks Alice a rhythm and the day of the month

6. What is strange about the Hatter’s watch?

It tells the months but not the time. The time is always 6 o’clock

7. Why has the Hatter quarrelled with time?

Because he has tried to murder it at Queen’s concert.

8. What is the consequence?

The time refuses to pass on. It’s always 6 o’clock

9. How do they solve the problem?

Since they can’t wash the tea things because it always 6 o’clock and they moved about the table.

19. In the traditional version a baby is considered like a star. The teachers sing this song to children to sleep.

The “Alice…” version is surreal and maybe the Hatter sings it to Dormouse to sleep. He uses “bat” because the Dormouse isn’t pretty like a baby and he considers a “tea-tray” as beautiful as a diamond.
