Objective of the workshop: to provide a definition of brainstorming
Brainstorming is a technique to find out what children already know
about a topic.
It can be used both in small and large groups. In this way a lot of
ideas come out.
Listening to each other is very important.
Brainstorming creates a better interaction between children.
Brainstorming is useful in order to choose the point to start an
activity, a lesson and the level to use.

Brainstorming is a teaching technique. The teacher usually gives a topic, or
a concept, or a word to the children and they try to think about it
using their assumed knowladge or making associations. It is useful to check the
pre-requisites of children about a topic that is to be introduced. Therefore the
teacher can start from what the children already know to develop new
knowledge.
Children are totally free to express their thoughts freely and they can bring
what they know to surface even if they are shy.

A brainstorming is a group-activity in
which members share ideas, opinions, knowledge and so
on about a topic, previously decided, in order to collect information.
It allows the teacher to know what the
members already know about the topic and to link it with new information to be
given.
