STEP 3
Now take lyrics into considerations
What will we learn? We will learn how a text makes sense unveiling its different layers.
STEP 4
Consider Layout and Structure.

- level of syntax (sentence structure/punctuation)
- level of formality/informality (formal language, informal register/s)
- possible ideal listener/reader
Can you single out similarities between poetry and songs?
STEP 6
Summarise the content of the song and tell your peers about the message of the song.
STEP 7
Do you think the song we analysed provides a similar or different message from the poem we discussed in the previous lesson?
How does the message open upo to possible theme/s? Is the message only connected to love or can it be extended to different contexts?
STEP 8
You will be handed out a poem by Karen Alcalay-Gut to read at home.
Consider the poem context
It will be analysed and discussed during the next lesson.
Go through the text and be ready to tell your peers if you can see any similarities with the poem and the song we have already studied.
