Lesson 3 - February 3rd, 2025. Analysing CLIL . Pedagogicat examples and methodology applied to a selected text

STEP 1

Analysis and discussion of a trainee's CLIL perspective lesson.

STEP 2

  • How to describe the features of the target class (strong and weak points- low and high achievers - refreshment needs in terms of language and content)
  • How to define the content to be learnt by students (in terms of precise performance: he students should be able to do at the end of the lesson/unit )
  • What steps to follow to reach the expected outcomes
  • Balance between more and less demanding tasks
  • Individual versus pair and group work
  • Eventual need of plenary moments for class revision

STEP 3

Working on the language and micro language.

- Grammar structures

- Semantic fields and specific terms

- Language functions

 Activities and tasks should include the following skills:

  • listening
  • reading
  • speaking
  • writing.

STEP 4

Revision of steps of analysis of a  selected text/s  in pedagogical and methodological terms

The passage/text with image/s that you selected  to use in your CLIL lesson should consider:

1) target class

2) reason why you chose it

3) the content you expect students to learn

4) the language students are expected to use and to learn in terms of vocabulary, syntax, micro-language, other, ...?

4) the students'prerequisits to recall in order for the new input to find the best accomodation

5) the concept/s, information, other you want to learn, assess or even reinforce (in case the lesson ia  remedial work session)

6) the class management you consider useful for your learning outcomes to take place

7) the languge skill/s that should be more practiced

8) how the new learning connects with the previous and next part of your syllabus 

9) the test and assessment you plan to carry out

10) if are you going to have the students write a log book of the unit. If yes, why? If not, why?
