CHILDREN'S CLUB

-We are a group of young people who want to help children aged 4 to 10.

-When do we meet? In the afternoon and on Saturdays.

-We help children spend their time doing something useful and creative - and not watching TV. Your child can make a lot of friends at the Children's Club.

THE ACTIVITIES:

-We love helping children do creative activities. We do drawing and painting and when necessary we help children do their homework. We plan to make calendars and plan pots this year, two interesting activities that also help children learn about time and seasons, and about basic biology.

-We also hope to make simple food. We don't have an oven, so we plan to make sandwiches, salads and simple desserts. This helps children learn about nutrition.

-We plan to do some sport, especially team games.

-We hope hope to spend at least two hours per week making drama activities, and at the end of the school year we intend to put on a show with the children as stars.

Daniel Brown is 17 years old and is spending a lot of time alone.

Daniel loves rock-climbing, and he is planning to climb a 300-metre  high rock face near his home for charity.

He's preparing to do the climb by getting fit. Every day he likes doing a five-mile run and then an hour of stretching. This is very important for his strength and for the unusual movements he does when climbing. He likes swimming too, and enjoys going to the local pool at the weekends.

Daniel hopes to spend the winter months getting fit, and then a month in spring practising the climb with older experts. The in June he intends to do the climb in front of spectators.

He wants to do a sponsored climb and make money for charity.

Daniel's chosen charity is the British Heart Foundation. Daniel feels it is important for healthy people to do everything possible to help the sick.
