Notes about: I wandered lonely as a Cloud (1804) by William Wordsworth

The poem is a romantic poem.

Title: there are some important concepts in Romanticism

•-          Lonely: to be alone = solitude (one of the most important themes in Romanticism)

•-          To wonder: to walk without a direction

The poem is a record of a memory, the poet wrote it after the experience.

The attention of the poet is caught by a group of flowers (daffodils) described with adjectives that appeal to senses.

God: recalls the yellow color and something precious

The poet adopted the progressive time of verbs to rend movements (‘flattering' = inanimated things anre personified)

The aim of the poet is to convey to the reader the subjective, personal emotions he feels under this scene: his response in front of some natural things.

•-          Open sound: eco effect = thus communicating the idea of a vast space

The group of daffodils was so big that the flower looks as a continuous as the starts that shine. The comparison between the flowers   and the stars underlines the precious sensations the poet feel in tront of the scene.

Flowers: described as if they were people dancing

Setting: nature, countryside

I-II sestets: language that appeals to senses

III sestet: describes the surrounding nature

III sestet: statement, further moment of reflection, the poet is remembering the scene he saw so far

The poet wasn't alone, nature was personified , and he was emotionally involved in the scene (called the show)
