Chesil Beach

Chesil beach lies between Portland (near Weymouth) and West Bay on the East England Coast.

It is famous as the shingle beach where the stones gradually decrease in size from Portland to West Bay.

Its technical name is "tombolo", that's means a natural sea defence protecting the coast from the waves of the English Channel.

Chesil Beach is a protected wildlife site. It has long been used in the study of geomorphology because It's easy to understand what the process of beach creation is.
