This summer I went to Sicily, a region in the south of Italy, with my family, on holiday.

Sicily is an beautiful island with a hot temperature and with a beautiful and clear sea.

We stayed there for two weeks.

One day of this we decided to go to an beautiful island in Acitrezza, near Catania, called " LaChea island"; it is a protect island where there are the "faraglioni of Acitrezza".

A legend tell that the Cyclops Polifemo threw this rock in the sea when Ulysses cheated him.

In the morning we woke up at half past seven, we did a big breakfast with some Sicilian sweets and with cappuccino.

After this we left at about a quarter past eight and we arrived at Acitrezza at nine o'clock because our flat was far from it. My mother and my sister went to take the lunch. We arrived at the island by a small rowing boat. When I saw the water I was very excited because it was beautiful and very clear. There was a lot of coloured fish and a lot of beautiful corals.

I immediately went to the water with flippers and with face mask to do snorkelling and I stayed in it for about two hours.

I like so much all water sports like swimming and snorkelling. When I was three I started a swimming course in Latisana and so every year I go to swim in the pool.

Then I had a fast lunch with Sicilian food and after this I read a book. One hour later, I returned in the water and I found a beautiful starfish. Also with my dad, I went to swimming and saw the beautiful corals. We stayed here all the afternoon.

At five o'clock p.m. we returned to Acitrezza and we ate a granita and a brioche.

We arrived to our flat at about six o'clock, we was very tired. We washed our self and we got dressed to go out and after this we went out to eat fish in a restaurant in Pozzallo, the place where was our flat, and then, at eleven o'clock we went to sleep. Pozzallo is a beautiful city with about 50.000 inhabitants. It has got a clear sea and a big square when, in the evening, the people stay to speak. Also there are a lot of good restaurant where you can eat a good fish. I don't like fish but in Sicily I ate for five times fish and it was very good.

Also we visited other place like "Isola delle Correnti"(it is the most south place in Europe), where was practiced tuna fishing, the volcano Etna the highest in Europe and Puntasecca that it is the place where there is Montalbano's home ( the protagonist of the Camilleri's books).

This holiday was beautiful and I hope to return in this region because the food is very good but also because there are in it fantastic place to visit.
