In the third act and fourth scene Hamlet shows to his mother the picture of two brothers. One is of his dead father (the dead King) and the other is of his uncle who is now the new King. Hamlet wants to attract his mother's attention on the positive characteristic and worth of his dead father. He gives importance and relevance to his father comparing him with Greek divinities.

 

Following he shows to his mother the picture of his uncle, her new husband. Hamlet speaks ill of him and asks his mother how she could stay with such a felon.
