The title of the short story is "Eveline" ,which is the protagonist's name. The short story takes place in Dublin, and it is arranged in 2 parts, a longer one and a shorter one.
In the first part the reader can understand who the protagonist is and who the other important characters in the story are. Eveline starts thinking about her past. In this way the author makes the reader understand significant information about her life: her economical, social, family and emotional situation. In this first part of the story no one act, in fact the entire scene develops in Eveline's house while she is watching out of the window, thinking about her entire life.The reader is immersed completely in the story and he/she can perceives her difficult and unhappy situation.
In the second part the setting is different : it is not Eveline's house but the pier, from which she should leave towards Buenos Aires with Frank. This part shows to the reader the conclusion unhappy of the story. As the matter of fact she is afraid and she is unable to take a decision, so the boat leaves and Eveline misses the opportunity to change her situation.
