Eveline is a short story written by James Joyce. It belonges to the “Dubliners” a collection of stories that speaks about life style and feelings of the dubliners at the big inning of the ‘900.

This short story speaks about a girl who is unable to choose but the questioni s why is she unable to do that?

First of all because she is an adolesent so it is very difficult for her to make decisions about her life .

She wants to escape from her life, from her violent father, but, at the same time, she is unable to leave it. She hides herself behind the promes she did to her mother in her death bed: to look after the hose and her father.

This is not the truth: she is afraid to move on with Frenk because she is not sure of him.

In my opinion Joyce has written this short story for young people to make them understend how is important to make deciosions evenif you are wrong.
