SYNTHESIS OF THE EXTRACT FROM Roberto Cotroneo's Work:
Se una notte d'estate un bambino
The extract talks about Eliot and his masterpiece The love song of J. Alfred Prufrock.
Roberto Cotroneo wants to teach his son Francesco that Eliot is the modern poet more actual today. He doesn't speak about a middle aged man of Modernism, ne described also the existence of a man\adolescent not able to chose, not able to dare. Every man\woman has got fears. In particular he\she feels afraid, scared in front of something unknown, I front of the passing of time that made him\her older and older.
J. Alfred Prufrock is the personification of procrastination: "It will be time...", but at least he doesn't do anything because of his fears. He never confess his loved woman his feeling because to have doubts is better than to be sure she doesn't love you.
On the contrary if you don't do anything in your life because of fears and doubts, you never grow up, you just lie still in a condition, without changes.
Roberto Cotroneo invites his son to be so courageous and strong to build and to change the world, a world that should represent also himself.
One of the ways by which is possible to build your existence is to read literature and to speak only when you know the importance or the banalities of such themes of discussion.
