I'm going to analyse the extract of Act 3 from the tragedy of Hamlet written in 1600 and  performed in 1602.

Hamlet is in the Queen's room with her and he shows to her the portrait of his dead father and of his uncle (father's brother and the new husband of her mother, the queen).He begins to show the portrait of his dead father and he uses a similes because he wants his mother to be aware of the difference between  his father and his uncle and he gives the idea of a god on earth. He compares his father to Hyperion's curls(a titan who ruled the sun) because he wants to bring  on the surface the energy and the power of the king, then he compares him to Mars to underline his quolities in highting ,threat and commanding infact Mars is the god of war, he compares to jove the king of the god to underline the important of his father ,he is a god and he is the best of the gods and he wants to explain the king's rules of king over the country lastly he compares his father to mercury :" a station like the herald Mercury" to  underline the power, the strong of the king.In the verse 7 he says : " new lighted on a ...", Hamlet with this verse refers to his mother ,that she instead kiss the sky where her dead husband is , she prefers stays to Hamlet's uncle.With the verses 10 ,11,12 hamlet wants to underline the idea that nobody  should dare denying his father's qualities.In the verse 13 hamlet  uses a simple past : " this was .." because his father now his dead and he begins to show the portrait of his uncle, he compares him to  a spoil ear that blasting his wholesome brother, with this simile he wants to underline that his uncle has poisoned his father , he has infected hamlet's father with a poison.Hamlet aks to his mother if she has eyes, he thinks she has blind to not see the different between her husband..in the verse 16 with the word montain he refers to his father and with the word moor he refers to his uncle, he continues to show the different and he becames agressive with his mother. With this verse he wants to explain that the montain ( his father) is better that the moor ( his uncle) that it has brushwood.from the verse 18 to the verse 26 Hamlet is tooking to his mother because he wants make her to think that her choice was wrong because she hasn't a commonsense , she doesn't uses it because the passion of a middle ages women can not had been so strong to justify a choice like the choice that she has took.In the verse 28 there are sineddoche (eyes,feeling,sight) and a chiasm,(eyes /sight),in this verse hamlet wants to underline his mother seems to not have sense and for this she chooses this man.In the verse 32 the word blush means the modesty where the queen probably has lost .from the vers 32 to the verse 39 there is a recovery of  medieval ideal . there is a metaphor of hell , hell means sin, the sin in medieval period was punished and brought you to hell. There is aso a semantic field of fire hemlet condemning the passion of his mother.this orror is conveyed ny the word shame.
