Analysis of "She Welt Among the Untrodden Ways"
Consider title:
Reading the title we may understand the content of the poem. "Welt" is probably what is doing the girl. But the most important word is "Untrodden" because it is the adjective that refers to the lonely ways. All this considered we can say that it's a poem about a lonely girl who lives in the country. So the poem may contain a story.
Denotative analysis:
The speaking voice is outside the scene, he can be considered omniscient because he speaks using past verbs, so he knows what happened before.
The speaker describes the place where lives a girl, in a solitary place, next to a river. But her solitude is not only geographical but also of feelings, because she isn't loved and she hasn't no one to love. This description gives a feeling of sadness for the girl situation.
In the second part of the poetry the author uses two metaphors to describe the girl. She is like a Violet or a star alone in his habitat, in particular the mountain or the sky. It's used because something where there is nothing catches easily who is watching it. Moreover these element are so beautiful, in this case there are used to highlight the beauty of the girl.
In the final part, the poet shows the social loneliness of the girl, who was unknown, even when she died. The last lines express the feelings of the writer, who believes that the dead of the girl is better than his life.
