A DEFENCE OF POETRY

•·       CREATIVE PROCESS

During the process, the poet cannot use reason or determination of the will. The poet's mind works as it is awaked by transitory brightness, which arises from within. This is the process of inspiration.

•·       POET'S IDENTITY

The poet is different from other men; he has most delicate sensibility and most enlarged imagination. He enjoys or he soffers more deeply than others and he has a different approach to ordinary things.

•·        POET'S TASK

The poet takes events from nature and common life and he writes making them immortal; he arrests the vanishing apparitions which haunt the interlunations of life, and veiling them sends them forth among mankind, bearing sweet news of kindred joy to those with whom their sisters abide. Poetry redeems from decay the visitations of the divinity in man.

•·       DEFINITION OF POETRY

Poetry is the record of the best and happiest moments of the happiest and best minds. It elevates and delights beyond all expression, so even in the desire and the regret they leave, there cannot but be pleasure.
