The task wanted us to write our own opinion about the contents of the famous monologue “to be or not to be” written by William Shakespeare.
The Monologue “to be or to be” told by Hamlet deals with the themes of life and death.
Hamlet wonders if anyone’s soul should put up with all the struggles of a problematic life to become virtuous or if the man/woman should just commit suicide in order to rest sooner in peace.
However Hamlet underlines the fact that anybody knows how is going to be in the “other world”, the one that follows death. He adds that even if our soul will just sleep, there is the possibility of dreaming. As a consequence Hamlet wonders about what we could dream of, if we have left forever all the worldly things.
…
Since this “other world” is unknown, everybody’s conscience becomes fearful.
As a result even problematic lives last longer because he/she is too pavid to face the unknown struggles that could come in this other world. Hamlet comes to the end that our conscience makes us fearful.
