BABY-SITTING
Before leaving Mrs. Soane gave some last-minute instructions to her new baby sitter Carol. She was 17 years old and had never done baby-sitting before, therefore Mrs. Somas was a bit anxious. Mrs. Soane told her to make her comfortable and added she had prepared a tray of food for her. If she wanted, she could have the radio or the television on. She also told her she could not have television too loud, because the sound carried terribly in that house and would wake up her little son. Mrs. Soane said he was only four years old and, if he woke up, she should enter his room and stay there for few minutes. He would sleep immediately. Finally she added she would be home at eleven o'clock. Therefore, she left home with her husband. They went back later than they had expected and found a light on. Mrs. Soane went and watched into that room. After a little time she returned holding her son. Mr. Soane wanted to know what had happened to his child and Carol. The wife told him that he was still awake and was watching the television, while the baby-sitter was fast asleep.
