A PERSON LIKE BEOWULF IN THE PRESENT

I think that we could consider the Italian soldier like a modern Beowulf. There are, in places where every day many people die because of war, peacekeepers, soldiers and voluntary people who decide to risk their own lives to change the situation and bring peace.

Each of them, whatever their national and politic motivation, fights in Afghanistan to help local people and try to keep peace. They bring freedom, like Beowulf when he fights Grendel, and they seek  security  for people who live there. Every day they risk their life not only for their nation but also for what they believe in and they are always brave. They watch over human rights, help refugees and take part in situations of tension.
