TIME LINE

1066: William the Conqueror conquered Britain -> THE NORMAN CONQUEST

1066 - 1087: William was king of England

1154 - 1189: Henry II was the king of England

1199 - 1216: King John governed Britain

1215: the king signed the Magna Carta

1265: English classes, merchants and nobles were represented by an assembly summoned in Westminster

1272: Edward I came to the throne

1307 - 1328: Edward II governed England

1314: the battle of Bannockburn marked the end of English pretensions to control the Northern kingdom

1337 - 1453: the Hundred Years' War between England and France

1370s: high taxation heightened tensions between the peasant and their lords

1381: a revolt broke out in South-Eastern England

1415: the French inflicted a final defeat on the English who lost all possessions

1422 - 1461: Henry VI governed England

1424: a new dynasty, the Tudor, came to the power and would eventually gain the access to the English throne

1455 - 1485: The war of the Roses between the House of Lancaster and  the House of York

1483 - 1485: Richard III was the king of England
