TIME LINE

 

  • 1066

  a)  Last Medioeval period begins

  b) THE NORMAN CONQUEST - William The Conqueror, who was Norman, was crowned king of England

  • 1066-87: reign of William The Conqueror
  • 1154-89: reign of Henry II
  • 1199-1216: reign of King John
  • 1215: Magna Carta was signed by the king. It was very important because it limited royal power in written law
  • 1265: Assembly summoned at Westmister
  • 1272: Edward I came to the throne
  • 1307-28: reign of Edward II
  • 1337-1453: Hundred Years’ War between England and France.

 

PROTAGONISTS:

  • Edward III: he was the leader under that England dominated the beginning of the conflict
  • Henry V: he was the protagonist of the victory at Agincourt
  • Joan of Arc: French heroine

 

  • 1455-1485: The War of the Roses between the house of Lancaster and the House of York for accession to the throne; Henry VI (1422-61) and Richard III ( 1483-85)
  • 1370s: Peasants’ Revolt between peasants and their lords
  • 1314: battle of Bannockburn which marked the end of the English pretensions to control the Northern kingdom
