NEW HOMEWORK: Summary writing
King Con!
Victor Lustig was one of the most imaginative criminals in history.
He was born in Prague in 1890; he grew in a middle-class family and learned to speak 5 languages fluently. In the 1920s he emigrated to the USA where in Missouri in 1922 he used his most famous alias - rich Austrian aristocrat "Count" Victor Lustig and he bought an old farmhouse.
Three years later he returned in Europe, he was in a Paris café and he saw a newspaper article about the Eiffel Tower, some politicians had suggested demolishing it so he decided to sell the Eiffel Tower.
After that he wrote to some companies that wanted to buy the Eiffel Tower so he listened the offers and he chose the highest offer, then he took the cash and escaped to Austria with the money. Lustig returned in Paris, wrote to five more companies and sold the Eiffel Tower for a second time!
After many more crimes and lucky escapes, Lustig was arrested in 1935, the judge sent him to Alcatraz prison.
He stayed in the prison for 20 years, and he died in 1947.
