1066: William the Conqueror defeats the English at Hastings.

1154-1189: reign of Henry II,who introduces the "common law".

1265: an assembly is summoned at Westminster and it represents English social classes.

1272: Edward I keeps on developing the Parliament.

1307-1328: Edward II struggles throughout his reign and he meets a violent death.

1314: The battle of Bannockburn signs the end of English pretensions to control the Northern kingdom.

1337-1485: a period dominated by warfare and social unrest. The Hundred Years' War( 1337-1453),fought against France, makes the English lose their French possessions.

1370s: a period signed by high taxation and so heightens tensions between peasants and their lords.

1381: there is a revolt in Southern-Eastern England because of high taxation.

1424: there is the establishment of the Stuarts dynasty in England.

1422-1461: reign of Henry VI,which is signed by bloody civil wars.

1455-1485: The House of Lancaster and the House of York fight the War of the Roses.

1483-1485: reign of Richard III

1485: The Tudors access to the English throne.
