Instead of parodying the woman this work wants to show to all men what women have to do at home and all their daily duties. The rhythm of the poem is fluent and catchy in the first part, a short list of the women duties. This part is not an attack to people and want only to show what women normally will have to do in their life, as providing with children, food and housework. In this first fluent part there are only few lines that stop the rhythm of the composition: these stops are less catchy lines that let the reader take a breather from reading and also want to make them intermediations of the climax of duties of a women. In the last four quatrains the words and also the rhythm of the poem changes into harsh because the author wants to show the desperation of the women that have to endure all things and shut up. There the author uses similes with the nature because she wants to show that women can’t change this situation as people can’t change the weather and nature. Maya Angelou uses these similes because they are the only things that make her happy in her life of duties.
