Textuality » 4A Interacting
From line 10 the narrator starts to focus attention on the adoration of the mistress’ body. He says that adore all his body’s parts will take ages: this is ironic because if they have the eternity, after all this ages and this time-spending, they will get bored because there would be nothing to do. So the reader understands that the author disagree with his mistress’ coyness because if she will be coy forever they can never fall in love. Reading on there comes out the image of the Rime’s winged chariot that reminds the reader that time will run out and they will die. Then narrator uses irony again because he says that eternity is vast, but it is not only vast because it will lasts forever. Author ends this part saying that they will die, also her beauty will die and also ironically that his singing voice can’t be heard in her marble vault. To sum up the main object of reflection is that human beings have not time because they aren’t eternal.
