ADOLESCENCE PSYCHOLOGY

 

The adolescent period is from the age of thirteen to nineteen and is named as teenage period. It includes many important, and often very sudden, changes.

 

The most important ones are linked to the memory or creativity, like perceiving things, concept formation, association, generalization, imagination and decision making; and the thinking ability, like intelligence, thinking power, logical reasoning and understanding the environment.

 

In the social circle, the adolescent wants to stay in a group and shine in it.

There is a natural ability to understand the feelings of others, and there is an attraction to the other sex.

Besides the adolescent follows the social norms and practices and has a moral fear for God and heaven.

 

All these changes and behaviours cause some problems and an emotional instability in general.

There is an emotional tension, and the adolescent is always worried about his appearance with modern and latest life style.

The adolescent also wants to be free from parental sovereign but there are problems about economic independence.

In addition there are even problems of adjustment in fact the adolescent finds many problems of adjustment outside the family and in the peer group.
