Es.21 pag.92

The purpose of the letter is to show the reader's opinion about the article.

In the writer's opinion young people don't do sports because they're too lazy.

The writer thinks teenagers are rude because they never say "please" or "thank you" neither  they help older people.

He says teenagers see too much violence and hear bad language on TV.

He thinks teenagers should go to the park, museums, libraries...

I don't agree with the writer because not all the teenagers are like those he describes. Many are as he thinks, but also grown-ups behave in this way. So you haven't to criticize young people but only rude and wrong behaviours.

Es.22 pag.93

The letter is formal.

In paragraph A he gives a reason for writing.

Yes, the writer uses the passive form and mentions opinion from the original article.

I totally disagree; in my opinion, this is very unfair; this is absolutely false.

Es.23 pag.93

Some people say TV is too violent. However, it can also help us to relax.

TV is fun. What's more, programmes like soap operas can teach us to be tolerant.

Although it is true that some TV programmes are trivial, documentaries can teach us a lot about the world.

Newspapers offer us old news. TV, on the other hand, tells us what is happening right now.

Es.24-25 pag.93

Dear Editor,

I am writing in connection with Julie Boyle's article "What is wrong with today's young people?" which appeared in your newspaper last Saturday. I have to say I disagree with many things Ms Boyle wrote about.

First of all, Ms Boyle believes that all teenagers get up late and are lazy. However, in my opinion it isn't true. Lots of adolescents play lots of sports, are very active and love going out.

Next, the article suggests that teenagers are unpleasant and never smile. In my opinion this is very unfair. They laugh a lot and always want to have fun. Most of them aren't depressed and want to live in the best possible way. They may be rude, but not only teenagers are unpolite.

Finally, Ms Boyle suggests that teenagers spend all their time watching TV or playing computer games, I disagree with this. They watch TV or surf the net but not in an intensive way. They go out with friends, play sports and study.

Yours faithfully,

Surinder Sodhi

THE KISS

Nathalie and Brantain were sitting in a room full of deep shadows, made by a smouldering fire and were talking about the last tea and the following reception they would have gone. He loved her and during the previous two weeks had sought her society persistently. She didn' t love him but he was very rich, so she was waiting for him to declare himself and had meant to accept him. But suddenly a young man, Harvy, came into the room and kissed her on her lips. After an embarassing moment Brantain went away. The newcomer apologized but Nathalie didn't forgive him.

At the following reception Nathalie appointed Brantain and brought him to a retired corner. She explained him Harvy was like a brother for her being her brother's intimate associate and he had almost the same privileges as the family members.

She said she had told him this because it was important for her what Brantain thought.

At Nathalie and Brantain's wedding Harvy sought her in a moment when she stood alone. He told her, her husband didn' t want to stop their intimacy and had allowed him to kiss her. This was exactly what she wanted, but Harry said that he had stopped kissing women because it was too dangerous.

So Nathalie had Brantain and his millions left but not Harvy's love.
