RADIO HAS BECOME A MORE MOBILE SERVICE THAN IT USED TO BE. DISCUSS.
"Mobile": a Postmodern word: anything and everybody seem to move nowadays. Human beings are constantly asked to do something, to go somewhere and, last but not least, to say something. Life is totally different from what it used to be only some decades ago. Just some years ago people generally lived and worked in the same area and even if they were commuters they were daily commuters. Schools did not have mobile projects for students to go abroad.
The mobility has affected also services, technologies and our lifestyle. Phones have become "mobile"; computers are portable, the Internet links the world. Society is mobile. People travel in other continents. The various cultures of the world are combined by the globalization.
According to many people, radio too has become more mobile than it used to be once. Is this sentence real? In my opinion it's completely true. The increase of people's mobility has entailed the necessity of more and more mobile services. Radio is perfect for these new needs.
Radio isn't listened only at house. Nowadays, people listen to radio when they are doing something else, particularly while they are driving. In fact, the presence of the audio signal only let you do something else without much trouble. This is considerable advantage over televisions, which require the viewer to pay more attention.
Besides, radios are very practical; they are small, not expensive and don't spend much electricity. They can be brought and utilized everywhere; on the contrary, televisions are awkward. For these reasons radios are often included in mobile phones, in mp4 readers and cars.
Up today, radio is the best service as for mobility. This fact is the strong point of the radio, a strength which other media haven't been able to reach.
