Communication » 2A Interacting
Part 1:
Questions:
1: Are there times when its better not to tell the truth?
I think that telling the truth is very important in live, but sometimes there are no other options than to lie.
If there are people who didn´t tell the true once or twice, I think that that´s not such a big problem, because everybody is lieing sometimes. I think that most of these people are honesty. But unfortunatly there are people who are telling all the time lies. These people aren´t honesty. They are liars!
Sometimes you have to lie, but these lies aren´t so important for the further life. For example when your mother said that you have to buy some milk and you forgot it than you can tell, that you haven´t got the money for buying. But another thing are lies that are affecting the further life. For example if you have an interview for a new job and you fake some testimony. That´s not an unimportant lie, that´s a crime!
2: Should students, doctors, lawyers, engineers and bankers be severly punished for cheating?
To cheat for an classtest it´s not so problematic than to cheat for an university degree. If you copy during a classtest you will get a bad mark and than it´s OK, but if you copy for an university degree it´s much more problematic, because after the university you want to have a good job. To cheat for an
doctorate or for an elaboration is a crime and the justice can punish it.
A good example for what happend after cheating is Mr. (Dr.) Karl Theodor zu Guttenberg. He was the german Minister of Defence and Doctor of law.
But some people found out that some parts of his doctor elaboration where copyed from other elaborations. So the university checked his elaboration and they found out that 70% of his elaboration were copyed. So he has to resign from his political work as the german Minister of Defence. He has also to give uo his doctor title and now the german justice is making investigations against him. He was the first person who has to give up a doctor title. 4 months ago he was the most popular politician in Germany and now he is a liar and he´s hated by a lot of people.
3: To what extent can we cross the media when they are previtly owned or even when they are public services?
A lot of newspapers, TV channels and other medias are owned by big companys or private persons. All these medias are influenced by a political direction or a party. So for example different newspapers are reporting about one thing in different directions and opinions. So some newspapers are more political left, conservative or influenced by the goverment. For example Berlussconi, the italian chancellor, has also a big media company with TV channels and newspapers. Of course his media reports only good things about him. So I think it´s important to get the news from different newspapers and TV channels so that you can independent.
4: To certain TV ads give a dishonest picture of the product being promoted. Give examples!
That´s unfortunatly a big problem. The companys spend a lot of money in TV ads because they want to sell their products.
For example in Germany there is a yoghurt drink called "Actimel". The TV ads say that "Actimel aktiviert Abwehrkräfte". It mean that if you drink Actimel you will be healthy and Actimel "activated immune". But thats not true because some test came to the conclusion that Actimel is a normal drink without
any help for the health. That´s one of the lies which you can see in TV ads.
