A PAIR OF SILK STOCKINGS
The story tells about Mrs. Sommers, a wife and a mother.
A day she decided she should have spend one dollar or two extra for her children's clothes and, after she had bought some fabric to make them, she was very pleased because she knew they had been needed clothes for a long time.
Mrs. Sommers was accustomed to bargaining, but that day she was tired and she forgot to eat for lunch. While she was sitting on a stool to rest, she realized her hand had brushed against a pair of silk stockings. She continued to feel the expensive fabric and she asked the shop girl for a pair in her size.
Mrs. Sommers bought a pair of black stockings and she went directly to the ladies' waiting room to change. She sat in the room reveling in her stockings. For once, she abandoned thinking about responsibilities and she enjoined her new purchase for a long time. Then she went to the shoe department, where she tried to find a pair of shoes to suit her new stockings.
She bought a pair of boots, although they cost more than she used to spend, afterward she decided she needed a pair of gloves. She hadn't been fitted with gloves for a long time, but she took pleasure in the experience. She also bought two expensive magazines.
Hungry, she decided to do into a nice restaurants against her usual approach, which was to wait until returning at home.
Afterwards she entered into a theatre to watch a play. She absorbed the entire experience a lot. Then she waited for a cable car to take her home, and the man opposite her studied her expression. Bemused, she saw nothing and she didn't discern her desire for the cable car to keep going forever and never stop.
