Mrs. Baroda was angry about her husband Gaston because he invited an old college friend to visited them for one ore two weeks at their plantation.

She had heared a lot about Gouvernail, Gastons friend, who now workes as a journalist, but she never met him before.

But during the visit she noticed that Gouvernail was cultivated and a nice men.

She accompanyed him during long walks in the nature.

One night she met him at the beach. They started talking and Gouvernail told her a lot about his college time and his ambitions.

But Mrs. Baroda didn´t payed attention in his words but she was hypnotized by them. She wanted to touch him.

At the right moment she left him alone because she was a respectable woman, and a sensible one too.

She didn´t told her husband what happened that night.

The following day she took a train to the city and didn´t returned until Governail was gone.

After she had returned home she told her husband that she overcame her dislike for Gouvernail, and suggested having him back for the summer.

Gaston was very happy about that notice and she explained him that she had overcome everything and the following time she would be very nice to him.
