Riassunto

Manuel had passed the fish on his way up the road. There was a boy near him and he was about nine or ten years old. He had a pair of football shoes. Manuel took out a cigarette and he looked for the boy who was fishing. The fish gasped threw in the direction of the river. The boy looked for a woman and a boy who were American tourists. He was very surprised because he seldom see some tourists in that part of the city. They stopped in front of the fish and they told the boy that the fish would die but he didn't understand that. The woman's partner was nervous but she ignored him. She was worried for the fish. Then the woman asked the boy if he was English, but he said no. So Manuel translated the boy what the woman had said in Portuguese. The boy answered Manuel that he wanted to sell the fish. Manuel told this at the woman and she decided to ask the boy how much the fish was. He said the price and she took him some money. After this she took the fish into the river, but it was late. Th fish had just died! The boy gathered up his rod and the fish and set off up the street. Manuel watched him while he finished his cigarette. Then he threw the butt down into the dirty water and made his way back the way he had come.
