ANALYSING LITERARY TEXTS
Literary texts are very difficult to comprehend because there is not only one surface meaning and so it needs more than one step to understand it all.
Text analysis is a way to go deeper into a text, understanding structure, denotation and connotation, considering the title (conjectures, anticipations and predictions about the content) and the lay-out.
So, you have to pay attention to the content because a writer perhaps will refer to another poem, making intertextuality, a hidden dialogue between different works. There's also a very important way to make associations and interrelations in a text: the stylistic choices like the level of sound, rhythm, word choice, order, the length of a line, the figure of speech and many others.
We have understood that literature is a network of references and to discover them we have to make different questions to comprehend the mysterious connections.
