Textuality » 3A Interacting
This year we are going to learn how a literary text must be analised.
First of all, we want to discover how literature works and the language used in it.
In particular, analysing a literary text means going beyond surface meaning( which can be derived by text structure) to finding interrelations between a texts and the ones it hints at. Iintertextuality, is a connection between different poems with their own features.
An author gets his ideas from other poems, especially old poems, to write his own one.
For example, Alessandro Manzoni got the idea of the ancient manuscript from the novel Ivanoe by Sir Walter Scott. Another rimportant element of a literay text is the style used by the writer. Styistic choices create a net of interrelations involving sound, word choice and figures of speech. But finding this out is not very simple. Indeed we have to read every line of a poem carefully.
