THE CONTEMPLATION
Reflecting a mental activity, the title makes me guess this might be a deep poem dedicated to inspiration, solitude, inside focussing on some specific problem.
An adolescent wanders with his thoughts, trying to imagine what he will be in the future. The feeling of uncertainty typical of the age pervades all the poem.
The poem is arranged into four irregular stanzas, the first has two lines, the others have three lines.
The first stanza is a sort of introduction, the speaker explains the state of his mind of the speaking voice: empty and lost.
The following two stanzas describe the doubts about future ending with a question. The last stanza refers to the situation in the present when the speaker feels his freedom.
The assonance of o in the first line intends to give a slow and meditativerhythm accompanying the wandering thoughts.
The last stanza contains an assonance of a and the repetition of two phrases, similar in meaning, in this moment/at this time, and I am unquestionably me/ I am absolutely free.
